Every once in a while, you log into FarmVille only to find your farmer has undergone a radical wardrobe change and is now running around your acreage in his or her undies, sporting a newly shaved head. Don’t worry – you have not secretly been hazed into the fraternity of FarmVille
They are big, they are brown, and did we mention they are really, really big? Horses are heavily traded as gifts, not for their harvest profit but because of their excellent resale value – horse trading nets you a cool $105 per animal
Rabbits are the ultimate high luxury, low-maintenance animal, giving angora wool once every four days at a reasonable profit. Unfortunately they do not breed like bunnies, so you have to get them as gifts
While they are charming and fluffy and adorable, resist: do not buy sheep. At $700 they are very expensive and take 75 days to earn back their cost. Luckily they can be given from Level 7, and will make regular appearances in your Gift Box to help you build your flock
They are pink, they are cute, and they oink. Those are pretty much the only advantages of pigs, although with a resale price of $50, they do make a very thoughtful gift for lower-level farmers to give
As the first animal farmers are able to buy and to gift, the basic cow is everywhere. While decorative, they are arguably not the best item to spend money on from a financial point of view – wait to get them as gifts, because you’ll get plenty of them
The humble barnyard chicken: often gifted, rarely kept due to its poor daily profit and relatively high resale value for low level players. They are, however, quite cute and can be profitable animals if you pack them 16 to a square like battery hens
Black sheep make prized wool with double the profit of their white cousins at $56 per harvest. They cannot be bought or gifted, and as a high-value animal, are hotly contested for adoption. (They also make excellent checker boards.)
Brown cows were previously available for adoption from your neighbors’ Facebook walls. Brown cows make chocolate milk with double the profit of regular cows at $12 per day. With the introduction of black sheep, brown cows are no longer available
There’s no doubt about it: during Super Berry weekend, there is absolutely no better crop to plant than the mighty, mighty 2 hour, $10/$100 Super Berry. Get ‘em while they’re hot and deck those farms in red!
